On 12-2-89 at 11:20 P.M., at the request of DET. SGT. LEASE #1535, I responded to Metrocenter Mall located at 10002 N. Metro Parkway in reference to a missing person. Upon arrival, I contacted SGT. LEASE who then briefed me on the situation. He then instructed me to contact and interview the VICTIM's grandparents, HENRY MILKE and ILSE MILKE. Please see the attached interview supplements for further information.
INTERVIEW OF HENRY MILKE W/M 12-12-32:
I contacted HENRY at his house located at 4243 W. Morten. He said that he last saw his grandson, CHRISTOPHER approximately four weeks ago. At that time his son, MARK MILKE, had CHRISTOPHER on one of bis visitation periods.
HENRY said his son has been divorced from CHRISTOPHER's mother, DEBORAH (sic) MILKE, for over a year. She has custody of CHRISTOPHER and she and MARK are both happy with their visitation agreement and have not been giving each other a hard time about it.
HENRY said he does not keep in touch with DEBORAH and does not know where she is now living and was not aware that she was currently living with a man.
He said that MARK was now in Texas with MARK's brother, HAROLD MILKE. MARK has been there for the last week and was planning to fly back to Phoenix sanetime in the afternoon on 12-3-89.
When I asked HENRY for a phone number where I could reach MARK in Texas, he became defensive and said that he would not give it to me. He said that MARK would have no reason to come back to town and take CHRISTOPHER and did not want MARK disturbed.
At approximately 5:00 P.M., an unknown male called HENRY'S house and asked for MARK. He did not recognize the voice and would not tell the man where MARK was. Approximately one hour later, an unidentified woman called him and asked for MARK. She said that "JAMES was in trouble and needed some advice" from him. HENRY did not recognize the voice and would not give out any information to her.
HENRY said he would have MARK call the missing person's detectives on 12-3-89 when he returns from Texas.
INTERVIEW OF ILSE MILKE W/F 6-2-32:
I contacted ILSE at her trailer located at 10955 N. 79 Avenue #66. She last saw CHRISTOPHER on 11-26-89. On that evening, MARK had him for his visitation and her other son, HAROLD was in Phoenix on military leave.
On 11-28-89, MARK drove with HAROLD to Texas. MARK was to stay there with HAROLD and fly back to Phoenix on 12-3-89. On 11-30-89, ILSE received a phone call from HAROLD and spoke with him. MARK then got on the phone and spoke with her.
ILSE said she gets along very well with DEBORAH (sic) and that MARK and DEBORAH (sic) were getting along fine. They were both happy with the visitation arrangements.
I asked her if she knew someone named JAMES who lives with DEBORAH (sic). She said she did and that MARK also knows him. She said JAMES and MARK got along well and would occasionally call each other. She said that JAMES and his three year old daughter are living with DEBORAH (sic) and CHRISTOPHER. She said JAMES is heavily active with children in church activities and works with people who have drinking problems.
ILSE called MARK in Texas at (817) 628-2087 and I spoke with him. He told me that the military police bad just contacted him in person and advised him of CHRISTOPHER's disappearance. He said he has been in Texas since they drove there. He said he knows JAMES and does not think he would be involved in any foul play. He said JAMES does have some friends that he does not trust and named one as ROGER. He said ROGER had once taken DEBORAH's (sic) car without permission. He assured me that he did not have CHRISTOPHER and said he would be returning to Phoenix on 12-4-89 in the early afternoon.
